My style is always changing and shifting, but my work constantly flows between the real and abstract, professing my love of nature. Time spent in Zambia and Zanzibar, as well as other countries, has had an impact on my style and ideas. My work ties together influences from these cultures to my roots in Maine. Before going back to school for Art Education, I traveled and taught art at local schools in Kabwe, Zambia. I went on to become a teaching artist with Doing Art Together, in New York City, working in elementary schools in Harlem. Recently, I've been creating hand-painted designs on sneakers, bags, ornaments, and other accessories that can be worn and used. I've displayed art in cafes and shops throughout Maine and currently have items for sale in my online shop: rachaelnimonart.bigcartel.com
